About > The ISHP l What's New l Message From The President

Thank you for your interest in the premier hospitality purchasing professionals association, International Society of Hospitality Purchasers (ISHP).

The ISHP is a group of hospitality professionals whose vision is dedicated to ethical procurement standards and fiduciary responsibility, development of universal product standards, and the development of educational and professional standards for the hospitality purchasing industry. Through adherence to these standards we will continue to build a common platform of understanding and improve relationships in the industry between the purchaser and the manufacturer/supplier, while continually upholding the standards and ethics of the ISHP to better serve the hospitality industry.

The ISHP serves its members and the industry by developing industry product standards and specifications and providing experienced professional resources. These initiatives are designed to vastly improve the efficiency and economics of the design, manufacturing and purchasing process whereby everyone benefits.

We support two charities in our ongoing effort to give back to the communities in which we live and work.  Camp Pacific Heartland in the Los Angeles area is a non-profit organization that provides children and adolescents affected with HIV/AIDS the opportunity to experience summer camp.  More than $270,000.00 was raised this year through the generous support of the 80 vendors who attended the annual ISHP Camp Pacific Heartland fundraiser, which was held in Miami during the HD Boutique show.

Our partnership with Gifts in Kind International, the leading charity in product philanthropy, offers the hospitality industry and its vendors an opportunity to donate excess, new inventory.  Over 50,000 charities rely on Gifts in Kind to provide them with the FF&E products that we deal with on a daily basis, and that are sorely needed by these groups as they reach out to provide suitable shelter and housing to the homeless, less-advantaged, and those displaced in times of crises.  In 2006, one vendor in the industry donated over $600,000.00 in new furniture through Gifts in Kind.  This year, through the coordination of ISHP, Gifts in Kind provided much needed assistance to the victims of floods in SE Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.  These chairtable associations, and the ongoing work done by ISHP, is in the spirit of enlightenment for both our industry and the people it serves.
