Disaster Relief Efforts Continue in Asia
1/10/05

Following an undersea earthquake and resulting tsunami in South Asia on December 26, fatalities now total more than 150,000 dead in 11 countries. Two weeks after the event, emergency relief teams have managed to reach people in some of the most devastated areas, but many others are still waiting for critical supplies and medical care due to impassable roads and obstructed thruways.

Gifts In Kind International continues to work directly with international disaster relief agencies to supply the products they urgently need. Gifts In Kind is also managing transportation and logistics efforts to the region through its partner network.

As an ISHP member, your company may have product needed to rebuild the affected areas, as well as provide support to the countless individuals and families touched by this disaster. Please review your current inventory which may be identified for disaster relief, and complete the Product Donation Agreement (download PDF form). Or visit Gifts In Kind at http://www.giftsinkind.org/Asia_relief.asp.

In addition to assisting many affected people in this region, your donation may qualify for a tax deduction of up to twice the cost. As always, Gifts In Kind’s donation management services are free of charge to participating donor companies.

Thank you for your valued partnership and continuing support.

Camp Pacific Heartland — Camp Pacific Heartland, a non-profit organization, dedicates itself to providing children and adolescents affected by HIV/AIDS with the opportunity to go to a place once a year where they can make new friends, increase their self-esteem, talk about their fears and feelings, and perhaps for the first time in their lives, learn what it is like to be embraced rather than rejected. That place is Camp Hilltop, located on the majestic Malibu slopes overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Last summer, through Camp Pacific Heartland over one hundred kids were able to enjoy an unforgettable week of laughter, joy and friendship at the Camp Hilltop location.
